We preserve and protect local flat history such as records, photos, maps, newspapers, books, diaries, and letters. We assist local organizations in indexing and storing their history.
The Archive’s mission is to foster an interest in the history of Florence, Fremont and Northeastern Custer Counties. We provide local access in a welcoming research environment and are open all year with a regular schedule and knowledgeable staff. The archive is available to researchers, students, teachers, historians, genealogists, residents, and tourists.
We provide easy access to information through accession lists and a searchable data base that will eventually be compatible across the historical organizations of the county and available for generations to come. The archive accepts collections from other entities on a temporary or permanent basis and will provide other entities with assistance in establishing an accession list of their historical data.
We work with all local history organizations and municipalities. We sponsor or co-sponsor, cooperate with and support history related events of educational and historical organizations in the regions.
